These procedures are performed using endoscopic surgery also called minimally invasive surgery, or laparoscopic surgery a technique in which operations in the abdomen are performed using small incisions. This type of surgery represents any procedure that is less invasive than open surgery used for the same purpose.
On the other hand, open surgery means cutting skin and tissues and larger incisions are needed. Minimally invasive surgeries are generally operations that are less traumatic than open surgery with quicker recovery, and less pain for the patient.
